Verify generated Go APIs and dependencies

How do you catch a coding agent that invents a driver method?

Try explaining this aloud before opening the answer. State your assumptions and trace a boundary case.

Reveal a strong answer
  1. Check the exact module major/version in go.mod and the package's authoritative API documentation. Similar names from another driver version or language can look plausible while being wrong.

  2. Compile a small representative path against the pinned dependency and exercise success and error handling. For MongoDB and Redis, distinguish constructor, readiness, operation and cleanup contracts; compilation does not prove network semantics.

  3. Review dependency additions, transitive graph and licensing/security requirements according to the project policy. Keep useful test fixtures but do not add a package merely because an agent guessed its import path.

Common trap

A code block in a fluent answer is not proof that the named API exists in your pinned version.

Try it

An agent gives a MongoDB v1 example while go.mod uses the v2 driver. What do you do?

Worked solution

Check /v2 import paths and current signatures, translate the lifecycle correctly, compile the example and run isolated integration checks for the behavior being changed. Do not mix versions by adding both just to silence the compiler.

Change the constraint

What evidence is still missing after a driver example compiles successfully?

How did you do?

Self-assessment, not a compiler pass or interview score. Explain the reasoning unaided before marking understood.
