Demonstrate your own engineering judgment

How do you discuss AI-assisted Go work in an interview?

Try explaining this aloud before opening the answer. State your assumptions and trace a boundary case.

Reveal a strong answer
  1. First clarify the interview's tool policy and follow it. If assistance is allowed, describe the task, context and checks openly; if it is not, solve independently. Do not imply generated work was reasoned through unaided.

  2. Be ready to derive the invariant, trace an edge case, explain complexity, identify a failure mode and change the solution when a constraint changes. A memorized explanation without this transfer is fragile.

  3. Use agents during preparation to generate counterexamples and critique your reasoning, then verify those claims with code and primary references. Measure your readiness by explaining and implementing unaided, not by how polished the generated answer looks.

Common trap

Using an agent to hide a lack of understanding will fail as soon as the interviewer changes one assumption.

Try it

Practice Dijkstra, then have an agent challenge it with a negative edge and an unreachable vertex.

Worked solution

Explain why nonnegative weights are required, choose another algorithm or reject the input, and preserve explicit unreachable handling. Trace a small counterexample yourself and verify the implementation. During the actual interview use only permitted tools.

Change the constraint

Which part of the solution could you reconstruct from first principles with the editor closed?

How did you do?

Self-assessment, not a compiler pass or interview score. Explain the reasoning unaided before marking understood.
